September 11, 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and the failed attack in Pennsylvania.

The Winnebago Community Historical Society is partnering with Winnebago Public Library, Win-Bur-Sew Fire Protection District, Winnebago Police Department, and Boy Scout Troop 705 to commemorate the anniversary.

To remember the victims and honor first responders everywhere, there will be an open house on Saturday, September 11 from 2 pm-4 pm at the Winnebago Public Library, 210 N. Elida Street. The open house in the Community Room will feature exhibits and videos remembering the day.

At 2:30 pm, there will be program on the south lawn of the library with Fire Chief Dave Loria speaking. A First Responder flag and a representation of the ruined towers will be introduced. A bell-toll ceremony will commemorate the moments of the various attacks.

The open house and program will comply with COVID-19 directives and guidelines in place at the time. We suggest that program attendees bring folding chairs.

Everyone is welcome at this community commemoration—We Will Never Forget.
